Let's Cast Out One More Time
We were fishing from the shore at Oregon Inlet many years ago when I took this snapshot. We watched the tide roll in, and kept wondering when these guys were going to pack it in and get back to the main beach. Their fishing spot was a sandbar, easily accessible while the tide was out. Buy the time they noticed they were surrounded by water it was too late. They got stuck. Desperately trying to get back to shore only made matters worse.
In the end big trucks had to reel them in like a fish, only using a chain, and the vehicles were literally floating. I am sure they were a complete loss. So, lesson learned, when fishing on the Outer Banks, don't wait till its too late to come on in, even when the fish are biting!
